Happy Family Day!

It was fitting that I had the pleasure of photographing a beautiful family today, on Family Day!  My friend Becky asked me to photograph her handsome little man, Ben, but we also did some family shots as well.  Here are just a few images from my photo session today.  There will be more to come in the next few days!

Website is now LIVE!

The new webstie for Defining Moments Photography is now up and running at http://www.definingmomentsphotography.ca/ .  I will continue to update the galleries on the website, and there you can also find information about sessions, rates, and how to contact me.  It took a lot of time, effort and work, but I must say that I am pretty pleased with how it all turned out.  It's something that I did all on my own, so the feeling of accomplishment is pretty great!

On a side note, I did some more fiddling around with the image of my son that I posted yesterday, and I LOVE the final result (see below).  I think I may order a canvas to display this image  :)

My Boy

There are so many things you can do to a single image, aside from the basic adjustments (ie. tweaking levels, brightness, contrast, saturation etc).  I have come across some various actions from different vendors online, and they can really add an extra "oompf" to an image.  Here is a picture I took of my son, Owen.  The top edit is my own, just using minor adjustments, and the bottom one is an edit using the "Jubilee (Simple)" action from Paint the Moon.  I'm not sure which one I like better, but I definitely love that pre-made actions allow me to be more creative when editing images!

Jessica Feely photography is giving away heaps of amazing prizes in honour of Valentine's Day.  What I wouldn't do to win these items!  If I was able to score some of these props, I could make my images that much more unique and creative...so here's to hoping that my name is drawn on February 23rd!  I have been a fan of several of the vendors for awhile now, but with this giveaway, I have found a few more great vendors that I may purchase from in the future.  Now I just need to save up so that I can do some more shopping!

 Meet Matthew.  I have known Matthew's parents for a number of years and was very excited to have the opportunity to photograph him.  At 6 1/2 months, Matthew is always full of smiles and he has so many cute expressions.  Here are just a few from our session today - I had a hard time choosing which ones to edit first because we got a lot of cute shots!

Baby Aalyah

Meet Baby Aalyah, 6 days new!  She was an absolute treat to photograph!  She managed to stay awake for pretty much the entire session, but was so cooperative and very tolerant of the different positions and set-ups we had her in.  Thank you Cher & Omar for allowing me into your home to capture some shots of your sweet baby girl.  She is so precious!  And thank you to my sister, Lindsay, for arranging the session!  Here are just a few sneak peeks, as I am continuing to upload the rest.  There will be more to come from this session soon!
